Frankie Westfield Joins PTP Opening Camp Week in Chesterbrook

We had so much fun coaching, training and talking with our campers during our June 15 to 19 opening week in Chesterbrook.

A visit from Frankie Westfield

Frankie Westfield joined us and shared advice with the campers on Wednesday. We also took on the kids in our coaches versus campers game. Six coaches against 28 campers, and the coaches found a way to win 5 to 3.

Building the opening week around touches and game play

At Wilson Farm Park, our opening week plan gave the youngest group a progression from touch to dribbling, passing, finishing and game play. We wanted each day to build on what came before it.

The instructions to our coaches were simple: join the drills, keep lines short and build on the skill introduced the day before. That was the approach behind our June 15 to 19 week, with plenty of opportunities planned for players to stay involved.

Frankie’s Wednesday visit and our coaches versus campers game gave the week two moments beyond that daily plan. The game ended 5 to 3 to the coaches, with six coaches taking on 28 campers.
